Go to artistdaily.com to read an article written by Paul Sullivan about John and his work. It’s part of Paul’s series Masters of American Watercolor and this segment is called A Talk With John Salminen. John was honored with the status of Distinguished Master at the Transparent Watercolor Society of America awards dinner in June after having been accepted into their exhibition 28 different years. The other four artists honored with this new designation are Dean Mitchell, Mark Mehaffey, Cheng Khee Chee and Kent Addison. John was awarded the Lifetime Achievement Award with Gold Medal from the Pearls of Peace International Watercolor Biennial in Pakistan. He’s very honored. He was one of three judges for the International Watercolor Society Canada Exhibition which will open in July. The entries are impressive and it will be a great show. John will be teaching a Plein Air watercolor workshop in his favorite spots in New York City this October. If you’re interested, please contact Art in the Mountains or look at the workshop page on this website for a link. There are only a few spots left.
